Campus Computers Hit by German Spam
May 20, 2005
A new version of the Sober mass mailing worm has caused an increase in spam for many campus e-mail users this week. The spam messages are written in German and
direct recipients to Web sites with right-wing German nationalistic content. Information Systems staff has identified one large source of the spam and blocked it from transmitting to campus computers. We have identified no security risks with these messages, only annoyance at the amount being received. If you have further questions about these messages, contact the Help Desk at xHELP (x4357).
For more information on the worm, read this PC World story.
